Program Details

Near East University offers 100% scholarships to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their main branches in all Double Major Programs except medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacy. If the second major program is medicine or dentistry, the scholarship rate will be 50% and it will be 75% for pharmacy or veterinary medicine. Students whose GPA is above 3.80 are entitled to register as a DMP scholar to the second major programs to which they preferred and accepted.

The students can find out the requirements of the program they wish to conduct a double-major degree on the website of the University (http://neu.edu.tr) on the Double Major Programs page listed under the heading “Students”. The Double Major Program applications are made to the Registrar’s Office.

WHAT IS A DOUBLE MAJOR PROGRAM?
Students studying at a degree program are entitled to register to another degree program which is called the “Double Major Program”, which allows students to obtain a second degree certificate from another department in the same faculty or from a department in other faculties, provided that they have fulfilled certain requirements and accepted to the second program. Students who fulfill the requirements and take the courses of both departments simultaneously, will receive two diplomas provided that they have become successful from both programs.

APPLICATION TO A DOUBLE MAJOR PROGRAM AND ACCEPTANCE TERMS AND REQUIREMENTS
In order to be qualified to obtain a second diploma, the students must have successfully completed all the credited courses in their undergraduate programs they have applied for and must have not enrolled in another double major program. The students cannot register for more than one double major program at the same time. However, the student may enroll in a minor program in addition to the double major program.

Students can apply to the double major program at the beginning of the 3rd semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the 5th semester at the latest for the 4-year programs; for the 5-year programs, application for a double major program must be made at the beginning of the 6th semester; for the 6-year programs, application for a double major program must be made at the beginning of the 9th semester; for the associate degree programs, the application must be made at the beginning of the 2nd semester at the earliest, and at the beginning of the 3rd semester at the latest.

In order to make an application to a double major program, the student’s overall academic achievement grade average in the undergraduate program must be at least 2.72 and the student must take place within the top 20% in terms of success ranking of the undergraduate program. Students, whose average academic achievement grade in the undergraduate program is at least 2.72 but not take place within the top 20% of the achievement ranking, can apply to the double major program provided that they have an average grade which is not less than the base score of the double major program in the year of application. Regarding the major degree programs accepting students on the basis of aptitude tests, students are required to be successful in the aptitude test.
